There is nothing more fragile and yet more beautiful than a snowflake. Snowflakes equally are of a geometrical design. Taracea can easily be compared to the symmetrical beauty of snowflakes. Each one - is a unique masterpiece.

The Geometrics of Taracea
Beautiful Wooden Art
Dating back as far as in Sumerian times 3000 BC, rudimentary Taracean decor appeared on coffins. The Romans were familiar with this wooden art, but track of it was then lost in time.

The Persian Empire knew of it.

Geometric patterns were elaborately worked in other arts: metalwork, ceramics, glass decor, jewellery art, geometric patterns were woven in tapisteries, carpets and cloth looms. Thousands of examples reveal the importance of Geometric patternwork.

Through the Islamic Expansion, Taracea Craftsmanship became part of their artisan heritage practising it to the highest level of perfection and thus, it arrived in Moorish Spain.

Popular Art
Taracea was swiftly adopted by the Spanish who exported the artisanship to the Americas. The inlaid decor of old wooden furniture is highly esteemed.

Taracea Artisanship

Sadly, however, Taracea is becoming an extinct profession. The intricate beauty of its detail, deserves the greatest of honours, for those, whose profession is that of Taracea Craftsmanship.
